80 Awesome Weight Loss Tips

Be careful, these tips were proposed by a large number of people. Not all of them are necessarily good, some even contradict themselves.

One weight loss tip in particular caught my attention. This tip is in my opinion the best one of the bunch:

Ultimately weight loss is about the balance between calories taken in and calories burned. Take the weight you want to be and the activity level that you maintain and calculate the number of calories that you should eat to maintain that weight. Now you have to eat fewer calories than this number, on average, over time to lose weight and achieve your target. Keep a food diary with full daily calorie calculations. Write down everything.

I say this because I have lost 60 pounds ( since Jan 7th 2007 ) by doing exactly what this tip promotes. No program or Fad Diet, they are only tools to help you control your calorie intake. If you need to follow a Diet by all means do it but I am currently having success without them.

In the coming weeks I will post more details of what I have been doing and how my progress is going.

One of the biggest concerns people have over online weight loss is whether these online diet books actually work.

To be honest the answer is exactly the same as it is for paper books. Some will work for some people, some will work for others, and some won’t work at all.

It is actually extremely difficult to predict if a diet book will or will not work. I’ll talk about some tips you can use here for making sure that the program you are looking for actually works or not. Though please do remember that online weight loss programs can work just as well, if not better, than offline programs. They can work better because sometimes they include additional bonuses like meal planners, or hypnosis CD’s, which really can help you get the most from the weight loss program.

When you are looking at an online weight loss program, it is always good to look at the testimonials for the product. Sometimes these are not 100% genuine, i.e. they are requested from people who have reviewed the product. If the testimonials include before and after pictures then you can feel much better about the product.

You need to also remember that books are often researched and ghostwritten by another person. The diet programs that are actually written by someone who has used it to lose weight and keep it off are often the best of the bunch. This is because you are not dealing with a business person who has had a book written, but a real person who has been in the situation you are in and have successfully lost weight.

One of the best things about online weight loss programs is that they usually come with a money back guarantee. This allows you to test out a program safe in the knowledge that you are covered by the guarantee and if the program isn’t what it appeared to be then you can get a refund.

The weight loss industry is a massive multi-billion dollar industry and every celebrity has their own diet program. It’s important for you to remember that diets are different for every single person. What works for one person may not work for the next.

The real reason that any diet program works is because you, the dieter, are motivated to get rid of weight and take regular and consistent action. Whatever online weight loss program you choose to work with, make sure you take this regular and consistent action, and you will not only get rid of your excess weight, but also keep the weight off permanently.

If I ask you know how much weight you want to lose, can you tell me?

Or are you going to say “Some weight”, which is what most dieters will say.

Ok, so when are you going to have that weight gone by?

If like most people you will answer “some time” or not have a definitive date.

So when is this some time? And what on earth is this some weight huh? Do you know? I bet you don’t. And if you don’t know, how are you ever going to know if you’ve got there and got rid of the weight?

Having worked with hundreds of weight loss clients in my clinical hypnosis practice, I quickly discovered that people with specific weight loss goals were the people who succeeded with the least amount of struggling.

How much weight do you want to lose? Think about it right now and write it down somewhere if necessary. Get an exact figure in your mind. Remember that some weight is a completely useless goal, as is a few pounds, a few stone, a few kilograms. The figure has to be precise. Know exactly what your target weight is and subtract it from your current weight. Then you know exactly how much you need to get rid of.

Once you know how much weight you want to lose, your next step is to work out when you want to lose the weight by.

This is another place where dieters make a simple mistake. They don’t have a target date for achieving their weight loss goals, or if they do the dates are so unrealistic the only way to achieve them is through losing a limb!

Next decide exactly when you want to lose this weight by. What date (and some rough date is NOT good enough) do you want to be your target weight? Set a precise date like 31st December 2007.

Now you have your target date for being your ideal weight and how much weight you want to have got rid of by then. Work out how many months and weeks are between now and your target date. Then calculate how much weight you need to lose each week and month.

For example, if you have 6 months between now and your target date and have 30 pounds to lose in that time, it works out as losing 5 pounds a month, or a little over a pound a week, which is entirely achievable.

In summary:

1) Determine how much weight you want to lose / what your target weight is
2) Decide when you want to have got rid of this weight, i.e. your target date (and made sure it is feasible)
3) Divide up the weight by the time to get how much weight to lose each week and month

Following these 3 D’s will ensure that you achieve your weight loss goals.

Weight Loss Online is a minefield for anyone serious about weight loss. There are snake oil salesmen, peddlers of poor quality products, and of course those people out to make a quick buck from a desperate dieter.

What many of these online weight loss “experts” rely on is the fact that 95% of dieters will buy a diet program, open the front cover, see it’s BIG and involves work and then give up. Really, how many diet books, exercise video’s and pieces of exercise equipment do you have around your house … and how many of those have you actually used (and used consistently).

There are a lot of online weight loss programs all promising instant weight loss, rapid weight loss and lots of other wild claims.

I can highly recommend choosing an online weight loss program because there are some great ones out there. When you are choosing your weight loss program, bear in mind a few things.

What is the guarantee of the program you are looking at? Do they offer you a 7, 14, 30, 90 day guarantee or longer? The longer the guarantee the more chance you have to test the program thoroughly to make sure it works. However, check the fine print of the guarantee. Some of these programs have a lot of weasel clauses in them designed to make it difficult for you to return the product and get your money back. Look for a guarantee that is completely unconditional and you know you are safe.

If the program is purchased through Clickbank or Paypal then you know you are safe because Clickbank has an 8 week money back guarantee which it forces all merchants to comply with. In fact, you can contact Clickbank direct for your refund without involving the merchant. Paypal is also very protective of its customers, and whilst it doesn’t force a guarantee on its merchants, it will investigate claims about products not being as described.

EBay is another source of diet and weight loss programs. However, this is an even bigger minefield. Whilst eBay is an excellent marketplace, it is unfortunately frequented by scammers and conmen selling pirated and illegal products, particularly if you are buying supplements or physical programs. Always check out a sellers feedback and make sure there is a lot of positives there - and check what they are for! A lot of sellers will buy 1c or $1 auctions to get lots of positive feedback in order to lool better as a seller. Make sure the positive feedback is for the product you are buying.

Check how long they have been on eBay too. If they are a new seller then there is more of a chance of them not being 100% honest. However, if they have been there for years and have lots of positive feedback then you know they are much more likely to be honest. Ebay is a fantastic marketplace, but just like a real marketplace, you, as the buyer, need to have your wits about you.

There are some excellent online weight loss programs that come highly recommended, so be diligent in your selection of one and you can find yourself getting rid of that weight and being your ideal weight.

When it comes to weight loss motivation, it is something that a lot of people feel they have lost. Whether it is down the back of the sofa, or dropped in the street, the motivation just isn’t there to lose weight.

So how can you find this motivation again and lose weight?

The first step is to make sure you have targeted goals. You’ve probably heard it a thousand times, or even said it yourself: “I’m trying to lose some weight, can you help me.”

If you start you diet by saying this, your chances of succeeding on your diet is slim.

Why?

Because you are “trying to lose SOME weight”. Tell me, what is some weight? Some weight is a pound, some weight is an ounce, some weight is 100 pounds! Some weight is an indefinable quantity that you are not really sure about.

When you are dieting, you have little weight loss motivation because sub-consciously, you do not know where you are going to end up with your weight loss program. All you know is that you are going to lose “SOME” weight. So if you diet for a bit and then find yourself a pound lighter … CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve lost SOME weight.

Yeah sure, it’s not what you really had in mind, I’m pretty sure you wanted to lose more than a pound, but sub-consciously - you’ve achieved your goal, so congratulations … and back to eating you go.

When you are dieting it is absolutely vital that you know exactly how much weight you need to lose. This will provide you with weight loss motivation and the keys to success. If you know exactly how much you are getting rid of then

1) You know what you are aiming for
2) You know when you have got there
3) There is no confusion between your conscious and sub-conscious minds
4) You can stay motivated as you progress towards your weight loss target

Now, this may sound to you like it is very simplistic and silly and that “it’s far too childish to work” (as a client said to me). But … and let me just say that again in capital letters, BUT it works … why does it work JF? You may ask … It works because your sub-conscious mind is like a child! It is very simple, very honest and without guile.

So play this childish game with yourself, put your weight loss goals own on paper and find your weight loss motivation.

When dieting, weight loss motivation can be a bit elusive. The constant cycle of putting on weight, losing weight, putting on weight and losing weight can become tiresome and demotivating.

Here are some tips to help you loose weight and keep it off

Tip 1 - Know what you want

Make sure you know exactly how much weight you want to get rid of. Some weight just doesn’t cut it, so have an exact figure of what your target weight is and how much you are losing.

Tip 2 - Stay off the scales

Don’t weigh yourself every day, it’ll dent your weight loss motivation and frustrate you. Instead, pick one day a week when you are going to weigh yourself and weigh yourself every day at the same time (I usually recommend Monday’s as you may be at your heaviest after the weekends excesses!). If you insist on stepping on the scale every day, do it at the same time each day and expect to see huge swings, 4 pounds difference between days is common.

Tip 3 - Measure yourself

Often weight loss isn’t immediately noticeable through weight, but is more obvious through inches lost. so, measure your chest, waist, hips and thighs and record the results. This tip is event more important when you are also doing an exercise program. If you build muscle you will gain weight, but this is good weight, muscles burn calories, the more muscle you have the more calories you burn.

Tip 4 - Track your progress

Motivation comes from seeing results, so track your weight loss and your measurements shrinking and you will find yourself being more motivated to lose weight. Put a pen and pad next to your scale, this will allow to to record your weight and measurements right then and there.

Tip 5 - Eat regularly

Most dieters think that by skipping meals they are going to lose weight quickly. NO! It doesn’t work like that. If you skip meals then your body starts to think there’s a famine coming, which means your body piles on the fat to survive the famine. Eat regular meals.

Tip 6 - Don’t Deny Yourself

Many dieters will deny themselves anything naughty such as chocolate, cakes and so on. Trouble is, when you deny yourself something, you want it more. So instead CHOOSE not to have it, because then you are in control. Occasionally, you may choose to have it, which is great too, just control your portion and adjust your other meals so you do not eat excess calories for the day.

Tip 7 - Drink, drink, drink

And no, I don’t mean alcohol. I mean yummy, delicious water. Drink plenty of it as it will flush toxins from your system and help keep you healthy. The experts recommend that you should drink at least 2 liters (just over 4 pints) of water every single day. Avoid caffeinated drinks and fizzy soda’s as these don’t help quench your thirst or remove the toxins from your system.

These seven tips for weight loss motivation and success will help you to rapidly lose weight with the minimum of trouble.

Is it really possible for weight loss to be easy?

The diet industry portrays that diets are a breeze, easy as pie, just eat our lovely (and expensive) products and spend lots of money and you will be as skinny as the skinny models who advertise our product yet have never used them.

Yet in spite of this, the vast majority of people see dieting as a struggle (struggling to lose weight), a battle (battling to lose weight), a fight (fighting to lose weight) and generally a hardship.

Easy weight loss is entirely possible if you adopt the right mental attitude. Weight loss is all about having motivation, and what is motivation except reasons to lose weight.

So, what are your reasons for losing weight?

Do you want to be thinner because your friends are? Do you want to be thinner because you feel people will like you more? Or you’ll like yourself more? Do you want to be thinner for health reasons?

There are a lot of potential reasons for losing weight, and if your reasons are powerful and motivating enough there is nothing else you can do except lose weight easily. Just what are your personal reasons for losing weight? Have a think about them now and decide if they are motivating enough.

You’re now probably wondering what on earth this right mental attitude for easy weight loss is, so let me tell you now exactly what it is.

Number 1 : Believe that you can succeed. You would be shocked to find how many people do not believe they can successfully diet and attain (and maintain) their desired target weight. Believe you can succeed, and believe it strongly - your beliefs create the world around you and whether you believe you can or can’t, you’re right.

Number 2 : Be realistic. It’s lovely for us all to have those pleasant day dreams, but be realistic. Don’t think you can magically lose a hundred pounds in a week … it’s not physically possible, and losing too much weight too quickly is bad for your health. Be realistic about what you are aiming for and when you will do it.

Number 3 : Believe that you are a thinner person. People will have their identity tied up with their weight, and people will do almost anything to protect their identity, even kill. Is your identity one of a struggling dieter? Or an overweight person? Or a fat slob? What is your identity with relation to your weight? If it is negative and involves you being anywhere other than your target weight, then you need to change it!

Number 4 : Believer that you are worthy of being a thinner person. If you are caught up in self loathing and really dislike yourself you may not think you are worth losing weight and being at your ideal weight. You will find yourself struggling and sabotaging your efforts, so believe you are worthy of this success.

Number 5 : Now this is the one that eludes all but the most successful dieters. Take REGULAR and CONSISTENT action. That’s all it takes. Easy weight loss comes from taking consistent action every single day both mentally and physically. Thinking you want to be thin whilst eating pizza in front of the television isn’t going to work. You have to combine thought with action to create results.

So now you know how easy weight loss really is when you have the right mental attitude. Study these five keys and use them to make your weight loss easy.

The mental process behind dieting and weight loss is as important, if not more important, than the actual eating and dieting part of the process. The reason being that everything comes from your thoughts and without the right thoughts, the right action and results can never manifest.

Visualization is a very powerful tool in creating the correct mindset for permanent weight loss, but one that is rarely used by dieters to help their weight loss. In fact, most dieters DO use visualization, but they use it to visualize themselves struggling and failing at their diet whilst being miserable.

And guess what … these dieters are miserable and unhappy on their diets because they have made the whole weight loss process painful and more difficult than it really needs to be.

Your mind is an incredibly powerful device that scientists are still learning about and understanding. Currently there is a lot of research into the power of the mind and visualization, particularly in relation to enhancing sports and business performance.

Visualization is, in its simplest form, where you imagine in your mind yourself doing something. It can also be called Mental Rehearsal, and is used by sales professionals and speakers before they perform.

Applying this technique to weight loss is very simple. Imagine yourself at your ideal weight and size. See the picture of yourself in your mind, but don’t see it as if you are watching someone else, see it as if you were seeing it from your own eyes, e.g. see yourself in a mirror.

As well as seeing yourself, feel the feelings of being your idea weight and size. Feel how good it is, how much you enjoy it and how great it is to be this ideal weight. Maybe feel and see yourself fitting into new clothing, receiving admiring looks or whatever it takes to help you feel fantastic about being your ideal weight.

Whilst visualizing, feel how easy and effortless it was to achieve your ideal weight. Doing this will take you away from that painful dieting mindset, which does you no good at all.

By visualizing yourself at your ideal weight in an associated (i.e. through your own eyes) state you are programming yourself to be that weight. You will find that unconsciously you begin to eat less, exercise more and look after yourself just from visualizing yourself at your ideal weight.

Visualization is an incredibly powerful tool that will help you with your weight loss program. Use it to help you effortlessly lose weight and enjoy life at your ideal size.

Stop eating!

Yeah that’s the quickest weight loss system on the planet. Stop eating and your weight will just magically disappear and before you know it you will be a starving, slender shadow of your former self.

Really?

Nope, that is a HUGE lie of epic proportions. It’s not true. It’s blatantly dishonest, and it’s plain old wrong.

The quickest weight loss system has nothing to do with stopping eating. The quickest weight loss system is nothing but a myth. I’m sorry to say that losing weight requires work and effort and that quick weight loss will damage your physical body.

When you stop eating and dramatically reduce your calorie intake, your body reacts in a way it has been programmed to through evolution. As soon as your calorie intake is significantly reduced, your body thinks a famine is coming. This means it starts to store fat and put weight on to ensure you survive the famine.

And storing fat and gaining weight is not what your weight loss program is about, is it?

This is why a lot of people struggle when they start a weight loss program. They cut down their food intake and their body piles on the pounds to survive the famine.

Instead what you need to do is cut down your calorie intake whilst increasing your exercise levels. This will ensure your body burns the fat stored within your body and that you can actually lose weight and keep it off.

It is when you diet and exercise that you really get results from your weight loss program. If you only diet, or if you only exercise, then you will find that your weight loss is not as quick as you may want it to be.

When you begin your weight loss program, it is important that you decide upon an exercise plan that suits you. Not everyone enjoys the gym nor wants to go every day. What forms of exercise do you enjoy and want to do?

Remember, exercise includes walking, climbing the stairs, cleaning the house, going shopping. Anything that keeps you active is classed as exercise. The more ways you can include exercise into your daily routine, the more weight loss you will experience. One of my favorites is taking the stairs instead of the elevator when I am out. This ensures I get some nice free exercise and burn some extra calories.

If you want to experience quick weight loss, then you need to combine a sensible and smart eating program with a workable exercise plan. The two together will ensure you have quick weight loss.
